Adam Wagner, violin.

He is a graduate of the Music Academy in Katowice. He studied under Eryk Taubic’s and Prof. Ryszard Fastnacht’s direction , and honed his skills in numerous masterclasses, for example with Ken Lee and Christo Christov. In 1991 he won the competition for the position of concertmaster of the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. During more than twenty years of work in this position he has appeared several times with the orchestra as a soloist, performing, among others violin concertos of Beethoven, Sibelius, and Karłowicz. He was a soloist during the orchestra tournee in Germany (1992), in four successive editions of the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Conducting Competition, at festivals in Germany, Belgium and France and many anniversary concerts as well. He has also appeared as soloist with the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, Lower Silesia Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra ‘Aukso’, Przemyśl Chamber Orchestra, Bielsko Chamber Orchestra, Gliwice Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra of the European Music Workshops. Recently he was a soloist of international tour as part of ‘ONE-An Orchestra Network for Europe’ (2010).

Since 2004 he has been working as the first concertmaster of the orchestra. He has been performing the same function in Bielsko Chamber Orchestra (since 1994), Gliwice Chamber Orchestra (since 2000), and the Polish Symphony Ensemble (since 2008). Since 1992 he has been cooperating with the Sinfonia Varsovia in which he played under the baton of, among others: M. Rostropovich, Y. Menuhin, Sh. Mintz, Y. Mashmet, J. Galway, A. Brendel, Ch. Dutoit, J. Semkov. He was a member of the Lord Yehudi Menuhin’s orchestra. He has also performed with the Polish Chamber Orchestra, the Penderecki Festival Orchestra and the Soloists of Moscow. He is a co-founder of several chamber ensembles, among others: Polish Chamber Ensemble (in which he performed together with M. Maiski, G. Deplus, D. Campbell), Trio Portento, Divertimento String Quintet, Concertmasters Quartet of Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra. As concertmaster he played concerts with the Sinfonia Varsovia in the world’s biggest festival ‘La Folle Journée’ in Tokyo (2007).

She has had Polish and world premieres, he has also recorded several CDs as a soloist and chamber musician and several dozen as concertmaster. She has been teaching violin at the Karol Szymanowski State School of Music since 1991 and the Silesian University since 2008. He has been a member of the jury in competitions for the youth and students. Since 2005 he has been working with the Orchestra of European Music Workshops in Darłowo, Kołobrzeg and the Music Winter in Zakopane.

He has won numerous awards, honors and awards, among others: Golden Cross of Merit and the Bronze Medal ‘Gloria Artis’. He has been performing in Europe, Africa, USA, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, China and Mexico. He plays the Italian violin from the eighteenth century.
