Lahti Symphony Orchestra cellist. Before that he played with Savonlinna Opera Festival Orchestra and Pori Sinfonietta.
In 2003 he founded a chamber music ensemble, Wellamo Ensemble with his friends. They had concerts mostly in the Lahti area, but also in Iitti, Vaasa and Helsinki.
As a soloist he been been performing with Vaasa Symphony Orchestra, Pori Sinfonietta and Sinfonia Lahti.
As a chamber musician he been performing as a member of different ensembles in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia and USA.
Ilkka has experience as a teacher as well as a long-term participant in a number of educational projects including as a leader in the youth sections of the cello Orkester Norden and SANYO - South African National Youth Orchestra.
