Zygmunt Krauze composes for ILYO01-06-2016 ![]() The outstanding Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze is preparing - specially for the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra - a new piece called “Interludes to Bucolics”. The premiere of the composition will be held during the final concert, on Saturday 17th September 2016.The composition of Zygmunt Krauze is inspired by a piece by Witold Lutosławski "BUCOLICS for viola and cello". It will be a unique occasion for members of ILYO to work on the first performance of this piece with this established composer. Krauze will also hold lectures and practical classes for the workshop participants. Zygmunt Krauze is an important artist - composer and pianist - of his generation. His artistic achievements and efforts in the promotion of music have been recognised with many awards and distinctions, including the French National Order of the Legion of Honour (2007) and the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (1984). In 1987 he was elected President of the International Society for Contemporary Music and has been an honorary member of the organization since 1999. Composition “Interludes to Bucolics” by Zygmunt Krauze has been commissioned by Szczecin Philharmonic and has been co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage within the Programme “Collections”, Priority “Composing Commissions”, implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.
