He was born in Bytom. At the age of 7 he began playing the violin, then at the age of 12 the double bass in the class of professor Gerard Przybyła at the Fryderyk Chopin General Primary School in Bytom, and in 1983 was a finalist of the 3rd Adam Bronisław Ciechańskiego Double Bass Competition in Poznań.
He had already begun a professional career during his college days, playing with the Polish Chamber Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Silesian Chamber Orchestra in Katowice. He graduated with honours from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice in 1985 and from 1987 has been a musician in the ORF Radio Symphonieorchester-Wien, where in 2001 he was entrusted with the position of assistant lead in the double base group. Apart from this regular work in the orchestra, he gives concerts on four continents with famous ensembles such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and the Strauss Festival Orchestra, under such outstanding conductors as Claudio Abbado, Georges Prêtre, Lorin Maazel, Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding and Jerzy Maksymiuk.
For many years he has been a teacher and lecturer at various international meetups and music workshops for children and the youth in Austria .
